What nature in the South means to me...

Derek Ferebee is a nearly-native Pensacola photographer and artist. He has lived in Pensacola since the age of two and has been taking photographs since he received his first 35mm camera at the age of nine. His love of photography took him to Troy State University where he earned a BS in Art, with an emphasis in photography.

Artist Reception is from 5 PM - 9 PM on March 20, 2009 during Pensacola Gallery Night

The March 20, 2009 Gallery Night is Derek's third one-man show. "I come to this show with a renewed passion spirit by printing my photographs on canvas. I am leaving behind the traditional matte, glass and frame to let the photograph "own" the space or even the room."

"This series is what nature in the South means to me. Having grown up here, too often we take for granted the beauty that this tropical paradise has to offer. I decided to stop and look at the small things that make up this gorgeous panorama." This show represents images along the Gulf Coast region to give the viewer a unique sense of what we see and sometimes what we forget to see everyday.

Derek Ferebee owns and operates Ferebee Photo/Graphic. He photographs weddings, portraits, events and is one of the first digital artists in Pensacola offering photo restoration and manipulation.
